SIA Account (Weapons Information System)
In France, any Category C firearm owned by a private individual must be declared, and Category B firearms require authorization. In 2022, to streamline the processing of these declarations, the government created the Weapons Information System (SIA) to digitize the process. The SIA is being gradually rolled out and is becoming mandatory depending on your profile, with the requirement to open a SIA account.
-
Hunters – since February 2022: if you own or wish to own a firearm using a valid hunting license and its annual validation.
-
Holders without official title (C3 and C12) – since November 2023: if you own or wish to own a Category C3 firearm.
-
Sport shooters – since the end of February 2024: for owning Category B firearms, their components and ammunition, as well as Category C firearms.
-
Ball-Trap and Biathlon licensed shooters – since January 2025: for owning Category C firearms.
If you belong to one of these categories of firearm holders, you must open your SIA account online before placing your order. In fact, before we can ship your firearm, we must transfer it to your SIA account. Without a personal account, we cannot transfer the firearm, and your order will be blocked.
How do I create my SIA account?
This is a personal procedure that only you can complete on the government website:
To create your account, you must provide:
-
A valid email address
-
A valid ID (national ID card or passport)
-
A proof of address dated within the last 3 months
Depending on your account type, additional documents may be required (hunting license, shooting license, medical certificate, etc.).
Some federations transmit your information directly to the SIA.

Why create my SIA holder account?
Because it's mandatory. Before we can ship a Category C or B firearm to you, we must transfer it to your SIA account.
Without a personal space, we cannot complete your order. Your holder account is a secure online personal space that allows you to:
-
Easily manage your administrative procedures
-
Keep your virtual rack up to date with the history and serial numbers of your firearms
-
Buy or sell firearms, whether through a dealer or between private individuals
Your SIA number is unique and will follow you throughout your life. You must present it to your dealer for any purchase or before any work is done on a firearm you own. Since January 2021, your SIA number may already be known to your dealer.
